Visualization control parameters

This section defines the parameters that control the visualization of the entire model.


  1. The graphical time step size, TimeStepSize, used in the visualization is constant and can be different from the time step size used for predicting the dynamic response of the system.
    • For static analysis, the graphical time step size must vanish, TimeStepSize = 0.
    • For dynamic analysis, two alternatives are possible.
      • If TimeStepSize = 0, the time step size used in the dynamic analysis will also be used for the visualization.
      • If TimeStepSize > 0, the visualization will use time step size TimeStepSize, interpolating the results of the dynamic analysis.
  2. If if possible to select a frame to be used as basis the visualization; this frame can either be a fixed frame or a moving frame.
  3. The visualization phase allows the representation of a number of vector fields that are superimposed to the instantaneous configuration of the system. To enable the visualization of a specific vector field, keyword @VECTOR_FIELD_DEFINITION must appear. Each vector field is defined by its type, VfdType, which can take the following values
    • AERODYNAMIC_FORCES: visualization of the aerodynamic forces along lifting lines.
    • AERODYNAMIC_MOMENTS: visualization of the aerodynamic forces along lifting lines.
    • ANGULAR_VELOCITIES: visualization of the angular velocities of structural components.
    • CURVATURES: visualization of the curvatures of structural components.
    • EIGENVECTORS: visualization of the eigenvectors of the system.
    • FORCES: visualization of the forces in structural components.
    • MOMENTS: visualization of the moments in structural components.
    • STRAINS: visualization of the strains in structural components.
    • VELOCITIES: visualization of the velocity in structural components.
  4. If the visualization of a specific vector field has been requested, scaling factor svfd can be defined to scale the graphical magnitude of the corresponding vector field during the animation (Default value: svfd = 0.125). The vector field will be drawn using color ClrName. To specify more details about the visualization of a vector field, visualization parameters must be defined for that object.
  5. For static analysis, the eigenmodes of the system can be computed. Furthermore, an animation of these eigenmodes can be requested during the visualization phase by defining VfdType = EIGENVECTORS. Because the magnitude of an eigenmode is undetermined, scaling factor svfd will be used to scale its maximum amplitude (Default value: svfd = 0.2). Each eigenmode will be animated for Ncyc cycles, using Fcyc frames per cycle (Default value: Ncyc = 5, Fcyc = 50).
  6. It is possible to attach comments to the definition of the object; these comments have no effect on its definition.
