  1. This section defines a control signal consisting of a time function, TimeFunName and a channel number, nc. In turn, this time function will be associated with elements of the model, typically actuators or prescribed displacement elements. This control signal will be used with controllers.
  2. The time functions used to define control signals must meet specific requirements.
    • If the time function is HARMONIC, the channel number, nc, indicates the specific harmonic of the time function that corresponds to this control signal. The user specified amplitude of the harmonic is arbitrary since this magnitude will be computed by the controller. On the other hand, the user specified period and phase of the harmonic will be used when evaluating the time function.
    • If the time function is USER_DEFINED, the channel number, nc, must be zero, and the time function must feature three entries. The user specified entries are arbitrary since the actual time dependent control signal will be computed at each time step by the controller.


Sensors can be defined to extract information control signals.

  1. A single SensorType specification is allowed for control signals: CONTROL_SIGNAL. (Default value: CONTROL_SIGNAL).
  2. No FrameName is allowed for this sensor.
  3. No u value or v value are accepted for control signals.
