The clearance model describes the parameters associated with the definition of a clearance in planar joints, spherical joints, and spatial clearance elements.

Consider the planar joint depicted in fig. 1. The outer and inner races of the revolute joint with clearance are modeled as bodies K and L of the planar joint with radii ρ^{k} and ρ^{l}, respectively. The relative distance between the candidate contact points z^{k} and z^{l} is denoted by q. If a contact model, CntModlName, is specified, a unilateral contact condition involving the relative distance q will be enforced. On the other hand, if a lubrication model, LubModlName, is specified, a lubrication model based on Reynolds equation will be used.
